Your Herb Basket Journey Starts Here

Your Herb Basket Journey Starts Here

You planted it. Now let's enjoy it.

One of the best parts of growing herbs is stepping outside, harvesting what you need, and turning simple meals into something special. The recipes below were selected specifically to help you use the herbs from your workshop basket.

Whether you're making dinner for your family or adding fresh flavor to a weekend gathering, these recipes are simple, delicious, and VERY beginner-friendly!

Garden Fresh Chimichurri

Fresh, bright, and packed with garden flavor, chimichurri is one of the easiest ways to use a handful of freshly harvested herbs.

You'll Need:

  • 1 cup fresh parsley
  • ½ cup cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons chives
  • 1 teaspoon thyme leaves
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup red wine vinegar
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

Add all ingredients except olive oil to a food processor and pulse or hand chop until finely chopped. Slowly drizzle in olive oil while blending until combined.

Serve with grilled chicken, steak, roasted vegetables, or my favorite - sausage!

Simple Garden Pesto

This fresh pesto combines basil, parsley, and chives for a flavorful twist on a classic recipe.

You'll Need:

  • 2 cups basil leaves
  • ½ cup parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chives
  • ¼ cup nuts of your choice (pine nuts are my fave)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

Blend all ingredients except olive oil in a food processor. Slowly add olive oil until smooth.

Toss with pasta, spread on sandwiches, drizzle over vegetables, or use as a dip or a pizza sauce.

Homemade Poultry Herb Blend

Skip the store-bought seasoning packets and make your own blend from the herbs growing right outside your door. This saved me during the Thanksgiving rush at the grocery store.

You'll Need:

  • 1 tablespoon rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon sage
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

Combine ingredients and use immediately or allow herbs to dry before storing in an airtight container, like a mason jar.

Perfect for chicken, turkey, roasted potatoes, vegetables, and soups.

Harvesting Tips for Success

  • Harvest herbs regularly to encourage new growth.
  • Never remove more than one-third of a plant at one time.
  • Pick herbs in the morning for the strongest flavor.
  • Pinch basil often to keep plants bushy and productive (remember the Y!)
  • Snip chives from the base of the plant.
  • Allow rosemary and thyme stems to mature before heavy harvesting.

Keep Growing Y'all!

The herbs you planted today are more than beautiful additions to your basket—they're ingredients for meals, gatherings, and making memories!

Keep harvesting, keep learning, and keep growing.

Girl, just start the garden. 🌿🍋
